ActionOverseas Village opened in Burma
During AblazeUK 2009 a special offering was taken for a new partnership project with Kids Alive UK: the construction of four children’s homes in Burma. This project has progressed extremely well and there are currently 22 children in the first two homes [‘Asher’ and ‘Panda’] and the remaining two homes are being completed. The third home will be called ‘Myrtle’.
The village, comprised of four homes, was named ‘ActionOverseas Village’. On July 1st, Pastors Eric Parker, Dom Bird, Brian Campbell and Glen Chaplin, together with a small team from The Ark, travelled to Burma to visit the ActionOverseas children’s village. Board Chairman, Eric Parker, officially opened the village. The team spent time teaching the children some games and dance, giving them some gifts donated from the U.K and praying for both the carers and the children.
They also had the opportunity to see the progress made with the building work. The children were delightful and it was lovely to see them so happy and well cared for. Strong links were developed with Bible College Principal David Man-Sung. The group provided a series of lectures on the theme of ‘the book of James’.
