Earthquake hits Malawi
Sandra Skene writes from Malawi:
In November Karonga experienced a 6.2 earthquake causing a lot of structural damage and while we had already been able to send some aid to our church members, we were keen to visit and see for ourselves how things were. The number of deaths has been low, and no serious physical injuries had affected any of our members. The church in Karonga meet in a rented room which was damaged in the earthquake, so when we arrived on the Sunday it was to meet in a tent rented from a school which had been severely damaged.
We are always emphasising here that the church is not bricks, but people, and we are happy to report that “the church” is still standing! A few of our members lost their homes and possessions and are temporarily living in tents, we hope to be able to help them in coming months.
